The Emporia State women’s team won its matchup in the Turnpike Tussle on Wednesday, taking down Washburn, 6-3, in Topeka.
ESU took all three doubles victories before winning three of six singles matches.
Natalie Villaflor picked up a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles, Amanda Morris was a 6-1, 6-2 winner in No. 3 singles and Audrey Sherman posted a 7-6 (5), 6-0 triumph in No. 5 singles.
The ESU men fell to Washburn, 8-1.
The Hornets’ only victory came from No. 1 singles player Julian Rios, who took a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ryan Ward.
Both the men and women will take on Northwest Missouri State at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Emporia High tennis courts.
