Reception at ESU
A campus and community reception at Sauder Alumni Center on Thursday afternoon will honor Emporia State University’s departing alumni director, Roy Mann. The reception will run from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Mann arrived at Emporia State in 1988 when he became assistant director of endowment. He was given the alumni director position in 1995.
He will begin a new job on May 1 as a senior development officer with the Provision Ministry Group.
Artist Walk
The Artist Walk, downtown Emporia’s celebration of local and regional artists, will be a bigger show than ever when its fifth annual edition begins Saturday morning.
“It’s grown each year, and this year, altogether between artists and musicians, we should have about 25 artists,” Emporia Main Street Director Kayla Oney said.
The event, co-sponsored by Main Street and the Emporia Arts Council, will begin at 10 a.m. and run until 4 p.m. Artists will demonstrate their work in many media. Works will be for sale.
The event will feature live music, including students from the Emporia State University music department. A children’s activity featuring the Arts Center’s Artmobile will be held at Seventh Avenue and Commercial Street.
The Artist Walk will be held rain or shine, Oney said.
