Today
The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Granada Coffee Company and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Pyramid Pizza. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.
The Reading Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. at the Reading Community Building.
Tuesday
Etude Club meets at 1:30 p.m. with Jackie Harder, assisted by Mary Ann Law. Venda Leigh Doxon will give the program, “Money Talk.”
Junto Study Club meets with Janice DeBauge. Shirley Hurt will present the program.
Literary League meets at 1:30 p.m. with Onnalee Harrell, assisted by Mabel Smith. Smith will give a book review, “Reader’s Choice.”
Research Club meets with Virginia Lowther. Ruth Bloxom will present the program.
Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
Single Adult Fellowship group meets at 6 p.m. every Tuesday during April at Casa Ramos, 201 Commercial St. Information: Rufus Hobbs, 392-5780.
The Kiwanis Club meets at 6:15 p.m. in the Commander’s Room at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.
The Emporia Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association will have the annual Business Associate Night with a social at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. at the Emporia Country Club. Special guests will be business associates of the 18 members along with past recipients of the Business Associate of the Year award. The guest speaker will be Michael Lane, president of Emporia State University, who will talk about ethics and business.

The Sunrise Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. at the Regency Gardens, 3021 W. Highway 50.
The Senior Singles group for 50+ singles desiring Christian fellowship meets at noon at Regency Gardens at the Best Western Hospitality House, 3021 W. Highway 50. The group orders from the menu and there is usually a program. Information: Nancy Gammill at 342-6186.
The Noon Lions Club meets at noon in the Skyline Room of the ESU Memorial Union.
Lyon County Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. The Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the same location at 7:30 p.m.
Miriam Chapter 14 of the Order of the Eastern Star meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 424 Merchant St.
The Emporia Camera Club meets at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 802 Commercial St. Herb Hobson will present the program, “3D Comes Alive.” The membership showing will be “Scenes with Special Light.” Close-up photography tips will be the “tech tip.” George and Mary Downing are the hosts.

The Flint Hills Optimist Club meets at noon at the ESU Memorial Union.
The Hi-Noon Kiwanis Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
The Sertoma Club meets at noon at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave. Deb Huth will present the program.
Altrusa International of Emporia meets at the home of Kathie Butcher for the Altrusa Birthday Party and annual reports. Co-hostesses will be Bev Miller and Sharon Woods. The District Eight Conference will be held April 25 and 26 in Rogers, Ark.
Flint Hills Area Vietnam Veterans meet at 6 p.m. at American Legion Post 5, 2921 W. 12th Ave.
The Emporia Gardeners of America meet at 7 p.m. at the Medical Arts Center, 1301 W. 12th Ave., in the office of Dr. Robert Dorsey, 301 B, for a tour of his “plant haven,” said the news release. Members and non-members are welcome to attend. There will be a business meeting, door prizes and refreshments. Information: 342-0206. (This day is a change from the regular Wednesday meeting).
Friday
P.E.O. Chapter GT meets with Lois Froelich, assisted by Jan Bradbury and Milli Dick. The program, “Sweet Granada,” will be given by Kim Redeker. Jan Bradbury will give the projects report.

The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9:30 a.m. every Saturday in the main terminal at the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar talk,” coffee and doughnuts. Information: 342-3598.
