CF fund-raiser
In honor of a local child, there will be a week-long event in Emporia to help support Cystic Fibrosis research. During the month of April, the health promotion majors at Emporia State University will be conducting a series of fundraising events for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The events are to honor local CF fighter Landon Dody, who is just over one year old. The average person with CF lives to be 37 years old. All proceeds from planned events will go to help research, said Jennifer Thomas, assistant professor of health promotion.
The events are as follows:
- 12 p.m. to 12 a.m., April 21, “Dancing Thru the Decades: The Landon Dody Dance-a-Thon for Cystic Fibrosis,” Webb Lecture Hall in the Memorial Union at ESU. This event is open to all ESU students.
- 6 to 8 p.m., April 22, “Laps 4 Landon: Taking Steps to Find a Cure for CF” at the Emporia High School track. This event is open to all Emporia High School students.
- 6 to 8 p.m., April 24, “Spring Forward: The 3rd Annual Lawson T. Dody Memorial Event.” This event is open to all community members of any age. There will be an auction (pies and other donated products and services) and a two-mile campus walk and balloon release as well as a variety of recreational activities.
