Emporia High School seniors Caydrick Bloomquist and Sadie Webb each earned first-team Class 5A All-State honors from the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, which released its selections today.
Bloomquist, who averaged a team-high 20.4 points and made a school-record 77 of 197 (40 percent) 3-pointers this season, joined St. Thomas Aquinas’ Clinton Mann, Highland Park’s Adrian Herrera and Rico Richardson and Bishop Miege’s Travis Releford on the boys first team.
Webb, who averaged 12.9 points per game this season, joined Great Bend’s Alex Hartig, McPherson’s Jordi James and Kelsie Sorenson and Bishop Carroll’s Julia Marshall on the girls first team.
The area also got another first-teamer in Olpe junior Cole Krueger, who was named to the first-team Class 1A All-State squad. Krueger led the Eagles in scoring at 19.4 points per game and was joined on the first team by South Gray’s Eli Applegate, Kensington’s Ethan Kuhlman, Goessel’s Nathan Ensz and Centralia’s Ben Steinlage.
On the girls side, Olpe got two selections on the All-State squad, as senior Kylie Haag was named to the second team while freshman Kathryn Flott was an honorable-mention selection.
In Class 3A, Northern Heights senior Haydon Parks earned second-team honors, while in Class 2A, Lebo’s Cameron Smith and Lyndon’s Krista Banzhaf were chosen as honorable-mention selections.
