Lyon County Commission
The Lyon County Commission will meet for a study session starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday in the Lyon County Commission chambers of the Lyon County Courthouse. Items on the agenda include:
• 8:15 a.m. — Commissioner and staff reports.
• 8:30 a.m. — Other discussion.
• 9 a.m. — Chip Woods will bring the following items: discuss the low bid of KansasLand Tire Co. for 16 truck tires for a total of $4,539; discuss the low bid of Welborn Sales Inc. for the 2008 corrugated metal pipe culverts for $63,263.50; discuss the low bid of National Sign Co. for signs and faces for $14,179.30; discuss Woods attending the 2008 Kansas County Highway Association Spring Conference in May; review recycle trailer tally for March; review comparison of 2007 and 2008 expenses; review vandalism reports.
• 9:45 a.m. — Kevin Hanlin, of Emporia city zoning, will review an application by Rural Water District No. 2 for a conditional use permit to allow a public utility in an agricultural district.
• 10 a.m. — Mark McKenna and Chris Wilkinson, of facilities management, will review bids for Lyon County Health Department rest room remodeling.
• 10:15 a.m. — Mike Halleran and Vici Reynolds, Court Trustees, will present collection results for March and year to date.
Madison-Virgil Board of Education
The Madison-Virgil (USD 386) Board of Education will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Board of Education office in Madison. Items on the agenda include examination and approval of accounts payable; activity fund reports and treasurer’s report. Other items include use of the gym; softball and baseball program; defibrillators; building project; site council reports; administrative reports; and negotiations.
