Several building-improvement projects and a review of recommendations from the performance-based budgeting committee are among agenda items for the board of education meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Mary Herbert Learning Center.

The board will take action on a proposed 5-year professional development plan and handbook and discuss non-renewal of certified staff.

Finance items that will be considered include bids for banking services, the Family and Consumer Sciences remodeling project at Emporia High School; bids to upgrade air conditioning and heating at Village School, and a request to republish the district general fund and special education budget.

An executive session is scheduled to discuss personnel matters.

Other agenda items include:

• Extending the Head Start contract with ECKAN, as part of the consent agenda.

• Approving contracts for the Young Writers’ Conference.

• A request to move fiber-optic cabling to Mary Herbert.

• Approval of second year of a 3-year contract for auditing services.

The board will meet on Tuesday, April 15, at 6 p.m. for a board study session at Mary Herbert.
