The annual burning of the Flint Hills has become a popular draw for tourists across the country.
Chase County is holding its annual Prairie Fire Festival. In addition, a separate event is being held outside Emporia and is sold out, said Jan Jantzen, of Grandview Ranch, outside Emporia. Jantzen said the event, Flames in the Flint Hills, held by Kansas Flint Hills Adventures, is completely sold out with people coming across the country to see the prairie burn. The event will allow participants to see the rangeland fires and also to participate in the burning.
There also will be food and a concert.

I'm not surprised!! I have always been a fan of the "burn", having lived in Kansas a good part of my life. Truly a unique tradition of the Flint Hill Country, An appropriate word describing the event would be "AWESOME" Dale Swisher
