A peace march and vigil will be held Monday, beginning at 7 p.m. Participants will march from the First Christian Church, 202 E. 12th Ave., to the Civic Building at Sixth Avenue and Mechanic Street, where the vigil will be held.
According to a press release, the event will be “nondenominational, nonpartisan and nonsectarian.” Participants can park near the auditorium or in the church parking lot and take the bus either to the starting point before or back to their cars afterwards. L-Cat will offer its services both ways before 6:30 and after 7:30 p.m. For more information, call 794-3476. The rain date is April 14.

Of course we all want peace, none more so than our Military. I just hope that this event does not turn into an anti soldier, sailor and marine event. Further, I hope that this event is conducted in a respectful way toward our President and our leaders, all of whom want peace just as much as the rest of us. We must remember, too, that to play into the hands of those who are killing our soldiers in the field does a terrible disservice to those who serve us and their families. If the message is simply that we want peace in the world, without endorsing those who some of us believe strongly are the thieves who stole peace from us, then I agree wholeheartedly.
