The Emporia High golf team began its season with a second-place finish out of 10 teams at the Salina Central Invitational on Monday.
EHS shot a 317, finishing seven strokes behind first-place Dodge City.
The Spartans had two individual placers in the top four. Bren Fisher took second with a 75, which was four shots behind Invitational winner Jarrett Tagtmeyer of Dodge City.
Fletcher Harder added a fourth-place showing, carding a 78.
Matt McAnarney and Eric Reimer both shot 82s to round out the Spartans’ team score.
Spencer Anderson (90) and Zach Young (98) were the other two EHS golfers who competed.
The Spartans’ next action will come Thursday at the Topeka High Invitational.
