There will be no shortage of food and activities this weekend, from a fish fry in Allen to a spring festival in Olpe.

The ninth annual NLC Youth Association Catfish/Chicken Fry fund raiser will be held in Allen from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds will benefit the youth association, which provides child care and pre-school through the NLC Child Development Center. Charles and Christine Wallace of Wallace Fish Farm also are sponsoring the event, which will be at the NLC Community Center, 107 E. Seventh St., Allen.

Food will be served from noon to 8 p.m. There is a home-cooked menu to suit almost anybody’s fancy. Food items will include catfish, chicken strips, baked beans, coleslaw, hush puppies and homemade dessert. Donations will be accepted.

A silent auction will be held and items will be raffled off. Winners will be announced at 7 p.m. Winners do not need to be present to win.

On Sunday, head over to Olpe for the St. Joseph Spring Festival at St. Joseph’s Catholic School, 307 Iowa St. in Olpe. Dinner and games begin at 3 p.m. and end at 6:30 p.m. Bingo will begin at 6:45 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. There also will be a raffle featuring a hand-made quilt made by the Quilting Center.

The dinner menu will consist of ham, roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, chicken and noodles, green beans, coleslaw, Jell-O salads, pickles, beets, rolls, homemade pie, cake or cookies, water, tea and coffee.

Dinner tickets will be available at the door and will cost $8 for adults; $3 for youth age 6 to 10; $1 for children under 6. Carry-out meals also will be available.

For children, games will be available during the evening. All proceeds will benefit St. Joseph’s Catholic School.
