Another Emporia High School student has been recognized as academically talented by the National Merit Scholarship Program. Senior Levi Lapping has been named a Commended Student in the 2008 National Merit program and has been awarded a letter of commendation. He is the son of Lori Siebenaler and Paul Lapping of Emporia.
Levi is one of approximately 34,000 Commended Students in the nation being recognized this fall for their academic promise. Although they will not continue in the competition for 2008 National Merit awards, the Commended Students are among the top 5 percent of the students who entered the competition by taking the qualifying test.
