Another ESU alum has a reminder of his alma mater at his post in Iraq. Col. Guy Beougher received an ESU Pride Package, and responded with the following: “You made my day in a place where a fond memory is needed. Emporia State University’s values, culture and investment in our nation’s future is well worth defending. You should know that at least one ESU flag is on a wall in a palace in Baghdad. Thanks again. GO HORNETS!”
Beougher is the second ESU alumnus to receive recognition from his alma mater. Brig. Gen. Kevin Leonard recently was presented an ESU flag by Capt. Jeremy Latchaw, Topeka.
Leonard’s command was deployed to Kuwait in June and is in charge of all support elements for U.S. Central Command in Southwest Asia.
