A Tasty Good Deed

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

LAST WEEK, the United Way kicked off its 2007 fundraising campaign. This year, the drive will raise money for 38 critical need programs in Emporia and surrounding counties.

Drive chairman Larie Schoap set an ambitious goal of $610,000. Stretching for a higher goal is important because last year, $85,000 in requests from United Way agencies $85,000 went unfunded.

Reaching the goal will take everyone’s help. A great way to get involved is by bringing family and friends to the brunch at Emporia State University this Sunday.

The brunch is a first-class event put on by Sodexho chef Herald Jensen and his staff. Words can not express how incredibly good the brunch was last year. The menu includes carved prime rib, shrimp, salads, eggs, omelets, sausage, bacon, waffles cheeses, fruits, desserts and more. There is something for everyone. There will be more then six tables of food for the buffet-style meal. Did I mention the brunch is all you can eat?

Let’s get the United Way campaign off to big start by attending the brunch this Sunday.

The event starts at 11 a.m., so if you want to get home for afternoon football, there will be plenty of time. There will also be plenty of food, so don’t worry about coming after church.

The brunch is a memorable event and is for a worthy cause. Call 342-7564 and make your reservations now.
