New medical director starts next week
Health center board gets monthly report

The Flint Hills Community Health Center board of directors met for its monthly meeting Tuesday afternoon. Items on the agenda and in written reports included:
- Ron Carson announced that he is stepping down from his role as acting medical director of the health center. The new medical director, Crystal Hill, will begin her duties on Monday.
- Cathy Harding was chosen as the executive director for the Kansas Association for the Medically Underserved. Harding will start in this capacity on Nov. 13. Harding will no long be available to write federal grants for the health center because of her new job.
- August 340B activity reported by Graves indicated that 967 prescriptions were dispensed to 595 patients. The average cost to the client was $6.79 per prescription with the average cost to patients below 100 percent of the Federal Poverty Level at $3. Carbondale Clinic Pharmacy reported 36 prescriptions filled for 10 patients from June through August. The average cost to the client was $8.08 per prescription with the average cost to patients below 100 percent of the Federal Poverty Level at $5.15.
- A meeting was held with Sandy Limon of PKHL Architects on Sept. 19 to review proposed architectural drawings for expansion and remodeling of the dental clinic.
- The Lyon County Commission adopted its budget for Fiscal Year 2008 including a 2 percent increase for the health center. The final appropriation for the center is $683,833.
- The executive team has recommended that health center reduce its presence in Osage County because of difficulty in recruiting, which will result in the Primary Care Clinic operating with two less providers starting in October. Once the primary care clinic is fully staffed, the center plans to resume weekly operations and active marketing at the Osage County satellite clinic.
