To Emporia and the surrounding area, a big THANK YOU is in order for your response to our Walk to DeFeet ALS. The day of the walk, we announced a $12,000 total. We are now at $16,250. Wow! This is great!
The quilt, which was raffled, brought $1,800. This was a labor of love by Marie Hinderliter, Lynette West, Marilyn Hinderliter, Carol Wagner, Janet Palmer, Kelly Bosak, Debi Burenheide and Sandy Caves. It was done in memory of relatives Marlene Burenheide and Janie Terrell who died of ALS.
The quilt went to Ronald Eckland of Lincoln, Neb.
Also, a big thank you to The Gazette and KVOE for their great coverage. Thanks to Michele Rodriguez and the City Commission for proclaiming Aug. 25, 2007, ALS Awareness Day in Emporia. Our walk next year is Aug. 23, 2008; come join us.
