Tonight

F The Emporia Building Trades Board meets at 7 p.m. in the city conference room at 521 Market St. The agenda includes discussions of changes in the building code and the appointment of three certified and licensed contractors to the building code review committee.

Tuesday

• The Flint Hills Community Health Center will have its board of director’s meeting at noon in the Jones Conference Room. Items on the agenda include the following reports: administrative, medical clinic, dental clinic and other committees.

• First United Methodist Church will host a Habitat for Humanity Benefit Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

• Today marks the first day of the Peter Pan Park Build week. Call 342-1600 for more information.

• The Emporia-Lyon County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission meets at 7 p.m., city conference room, civic building, 521 Market St., to review zoning requests.

Wednesday

• Lyon County commissioners will have their study session at 8 a.m. in the Lyon County Commission room in the Lyon County Courthouse.

• At 10 a.m., Emporia city commissioners will discuss proposals for a compensation study, receive a city attorney opinion on the city’s dog leash regulations and review the zoo’s mission statement, among other items. An action meeting will follow the study session to accept bond bids.

• The Emporia City Commission and the Lyon County Commission will hold a joint meeting hosted by Lyon County at noon on the second floor of the Lyon County Courthouse.

• Newman Regional Health will have its board of trustees meeting early afternoon in the second floor conference room.

• Corn, squash and bread, oh my! The Emporia Farmers Market will start at 5 p.m. in the parking lot of Seventh Avenue and Merchant Street.

Thursday

• Time for the NRA! The Friends of the NRA Annual Banquet will be at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. Call 341-9817 for more information.

• Go Emporia State! Emporia State University’s soccer team will play Missouri Southern at 7 p.m. at the TRYSA Sports Complex.

Friday

• More ESU soccer! ESU will take on Southwest Baptist at 7 p.m. at the TYRSA Sports Complex.

• ESU’s Cross Country Jock’s Nitch Invitational will take place at 5 p.m.

• Head out to a vintage concert — an Old Timey Rock & Roll/Vintage Country Music performance at 7:30 p.m. at the Emma Chase Cafe in Cottonwood Falls.

Saturday

• Load up on your veggies! The Emporia Farmers Market will start at 8 a.m. in the Seventh Avenue and Merchant Street parking lot.

• Celebrating Harvest! Hartford Harvest Days will start at 9 a.m. in downtown Hartford.

• Celebrating books — the William Allen White Children’s Book Awards will be held at ESU and the W.L. White Auditorium. Three, surviving crew members of the B-29 bomber WAW will visit the WAW historic home.

• Got cans? Hetlinger Developmental Services will be paying 55 cents per pound of aluminum cans from 9 a.m. to noon. Free popcorn to all who come.

Sunday

• Politics on the Porch will start at 2 p.m. at the William Allen White House State Historical Site.
