O’Mara family
A family barbecue was held Aug. 26 at the home of Scott and Shannon O’Mara to welcome the newest member of the family, Tristin Clark, who was born June 25, 2007. Kristin and Tristin Clark flew in to spend two weeks with family and see friends.
Other members of the family in attendance were Cody, Cailin and Connor O’Mara; Ned and Diane O’Mara; Scott and Kenda O’Mara, Drew and Kaden, Shawn and Michelle O’Mara; Levi and Danielle O’Mara; and Aaron Armitage of Emporia. Lori and Callie Jo Johnson of Gridley also attended. An afternoon of swimming was enjoyed by all, followed by supper and a celebration of Kristin’s and Danielle’s birthdays with an ice cream cake.
Hotzel family
The 42nd annual reunion of descendants of Fred and Julia Hotzel was held Sept. 9 at Jones Park in Emporia. The afternoon was spent visiting, reminiscing and enjoying a potluck picnic. The children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Albert and Inez Hotzel served as hosts.
Richard and Janice Buckridge of Vancouver, Wash., and Brad and Princess Buckridge of Brier, Wash., made the journey to Kansas to attend the reunion. Others attending from out of state were Joe and Norma Snapp, Karen O’Dell and Rodney, Matt, Amanda and Elizabeth, of St. Joseph, Mo.; Doyle and Carla Acton and Levi and Chelsea, of Forest City, Mo.; Verda and Nelson Kurtz of Oregon, Mo.; Steve and Phyllis Pearl of Holt, Mo.; and Connie Dodson of Perry, Okla.
Attending from Kansas were Jerry and Doris Hotzel of Park City; David and Sarah Hotzel and Doug and Susan Hotzel of Shawnee; Joe and Debbie Chichon of Lenexa; Dan Prchal of Wichita; Philip Hotzel of Topeka; and Bob and Rosalie Edmiston, Larry and Cindy Edmiston and Lynda Orton, all of Americus. Those attending from the Emporia area were Mike and Judy Turner, Carl and Charlene Hotzel, Judy Dodson and Orville Brooks.
The children of John and Helen Hotzel volunteered to be hosts for the 2008 reunion in the St. Joseph, Mo., area.
