Matt Jones a master

Matthew D. Jones, son of Bob and Judy Jones of Emporia, received his master’s degree from Fort Hays State University in the summer in liberal studies and organizational leadership. In 2003, he graduated from Emporia State University with a bachelor’s degree in communications and psychology. Jones, who lives in Costa Mesa, Calif., is a professional speaker and author of two books, “Going Through Hell, Don’t Stop” and “Life is a Marathon.” He is the grandson of Bernice Rider and Casilda Rosebraugh, both of Emporia.

Trip to Denver

Adam Haag of Emporia, along with 22 other students, visited Denver Sept. 12-14, sponsored by the Fort Hays State University Department of Information Networking and Telecommunications. The students visited Cisco, Google, the University of Colorado’s interdisciplinary telecommunications program, Invesco Field, HighNoon Entertainment, Starwest Productions, Level3 and Channel 9 and Imulus, a web design and interactive agency. They also watched the production of a Denver area television newscast. The students will visit Wichita In November and Kansas City in the spring.
