Q Have renovations stopped at the old University Inn on Merchant Street near Interstate Highway 35? It doesn’t look like anything is happening. Has the building permit been voided from lack of construction?
A Construction may be moving at a slower pace than the public anticipated, but work still is being done at the motel.
Martin Peres, chief of Emporia’s code services department, said that construction work continues at that location and the building permit remains valid.
The last inspection, for a rough-in frame interior, was conducted Aug. 10, 2007.
“The inspection was approved and the permit remains valid,” Peres said.
