Homecoming dinner

The Northern Heights High School Homecoming Dinner of hamburger, Polish sausage or bratwurst and chips, beans, tea and homemade pie will be served at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the NHHS football field. The cost is $5 each plate. Sponsors are the school’s After Prom Committee.

Big day at reading

Garage sales, a country breakfast and a semi-truck and fire truck are part of the display event, which runs from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Reading. The breakfast of homemade biscuits and gravy, breakfast casserole, cinnamon rolls, juice and coffee will be served in the basement of the Reading Methodist Church. Donations will be accepted.

Several garage sales will be in the yard of the Miracle Café and in other locations. Sponsors are the Reading Community Development Association, the Miracle Café and Reading United Methodist Women.

Ingathering at church

The Virgil United Methodist Church is sponsoring the Annual Ingathering at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Fremont Hall in Virgil. Smothered steak or baked ham meals will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m., and the cost for adults is $6.50 and $3 for children 7-years-old and younger.

An auction of rugs, noodles, collectibles, handwork and various other items will be held at 6:30 p.m. There also will be a drawing for a quilt and a door prize. Baked goods and other foods will be on sale, too.

Soup and chili at Allen

The North Lyon County Senior Center in Allen will have a soup and chili supper from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday. Vegetable-beef soup, chili, sandwiches, pie, cake and a beverage will be served. Donations will be accepted.

Elmdale fall dinner

The Elmdale United Methodist Church Fall Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. The cost for adults is $5.50 and $3 for children under 12. The buffet dinner will include a variety of meat, vegetables and salad dishes and their specialty, homemade pie. The proceeds will be used by the United Methodist Women for various worthy causes.
