Sixth-graders collecting money for walk
Sixth-graders at Lowther North Intermediate School will begin collecting donations on Friday for the 17th annual “Walk to Be Drug-Free.” The walk also is a primary fundraiser for the school.
Students will actually conduct the walk on Oct. 5.
“This activity is an important community service for our students,” said Vicki Dinkel, sixth-grade teacher.
A percentage of the money raised will be donated to Emporians for Drug Awareness.
“Most importantly, this is a great opportunity for parents and community members to support our sixth-graders in their pledge to lead healthy, drug-free lives now and in the future,” Dinkel said.
