ESU volleyball sweeps Fort Hays State for 4th straight victory

The Emporia State volleyball team extended its win streak to four matches on Saturday, defeating Fort Hays State 30-20, 30-21, 30-20 in Hays.
ESU was led by Megan Koster, who posted 16 kills with a .400 attack percentage. Arica Shepard added 11 kills and 24 digs, while Mary Walczuk and Brianne Boner contributed seven kills each.
Ting Liu notched 44 assists for the Hornets, who hit .287 as a team.
ESU (11-4, 2-1 MIAA) will play at Rockhurst on Tuesday.

ESU soccer falls to
No. 15 Central Missouri
The Emporia State soccer team hung in early but couldn’t compete late with No. 15 Central Missouri, falling 6-0 to the Jennies on Saturday in Warrensburg, Mo.
ESU trailed just 1-0 at halftime before UCM exploded for five goals after the break.
Caitlin Keith posted a hat trick in the second half alone, scoring in the 46th, 60th and 90th minutes.
Landri Schmitt also added two goals during a five-minute stretch in the second half.
The Hornets were outshot 19-3, as Alicia Smith, Shelley Marsh and Sarah Tetuan provided ESU’s shots.
ESU goalkeeper Megan Martin posted six saves.
The Hornets (0-7) will travel to Northwest Missouri State on Saturday.
