A new operations schedule has been set for the office of Kansas Veterans Affairs, 702 Commercial St., Suite 1D.
Wayne Bollig of the Kansas Commission on Veterans Affairs, said a representative from the agency’s Wichita office will come to Emporia on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Tuesday. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“There’ll be somebody there on those days to provide assistance,” Bollig said. “We’ll have experienced people coming from our other offices.”
A budget shortfall caused the state agency not to fill the veterans’ service representative position, as well as the office assistant’s job, after both resigned this month.
VSR Ken Morris’ resignation was effective the first of September. Longtime office assistant Bev Cinelli resigned, effective last Friday, to accept another job.
Bollig said the veterans’ commission will meet on Friday, and he will release any information that could affect the current situation.
Until further notice, however, Bollig said the office will operate on the Tuesday-Thursday schedule.
