Marion-Florence

Marion-Florence USD 408 and Marion County received news that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved funds for a regulated storm shelter at the new Marion High School gymnasium.

The Marion County Record reported that the shelter will cost $330,000 and will be completely funded by FEMA.

New Strawn

The Coffey County Republican reported that the New Strawn City Council accepted the resignation of its city clerk during a recent meeting.

City Clerk Christi Norman’s resignation was effective on Aug. 16. A search for a new city clerk is underway and an appointment is expected soon.

Chase County

The Buck Creek/Scribner Ranches team are returning to the World Championship, the Chase County Leader-News reported.

The teams qualified for this year’s World Championship Ranch Rodeo in Amarillo, Texas, recently at the Saddle and Sirloin Ranch Rodeo in Kansas City. The team is made up of cowboys from the Buck Creek and Scribner Ranches teams. The World Championship will be held in Amarillo, Texas, Nov. 8-11.
