At the Farmers Market

Members of St. James Missionary Baptist Church will be at the Farmers Market on Saturday, selling barbecue sandwiches made from beef brisket. Church members will attend the sale from the time the market opens at 8 a.m. until noon, or until supplies are exhausted. Proceeds are used for church ministries.

The meat will be marinated in a special sauce developed by Rev. Larry Williams when he and his brothers owned Williams Bar-B-Que several years ago. The sandwiches are available with or without pickles. They also can be purchased in a combo with chips and a drink.

Other items available will be baked goods, including a variety of cakes, pecan pies, fruit pies (available made with Splenda, if desired), fruit crisps, muffins, brownies, cookies and other treats.

The cookbook published by the Smoky Hill District Association is still on sale for $10. Some recipes from local cooks are included.

Benefit concert Sunday

Grace United Methodist Church, 2 Neosho St., will host the “Giving to Build, Building to Give” benefit concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, featuring the McGuire Family, including the Rev. Mic McGuire, along with Melinda Groves and the Voices of Grace.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the church “Giving to Build, Building to Give” campaign. Offerings will be accepted. For more information, call 342-2240.
