Aman makes mark in second year at ESU

While this is only his second year at Emporia State University, Bob Aman, psychology and special education instructor, already has left his mark on the university.
Aman was a recipient of the “You Make a Difference” award for August. He is involved in several aspects of the psychology and special education department, including advising graduate and undergraduate students, serving on the Dean’s Advisory Committee and the USD 233/ESU Administration Committee.
“Interacting with the students in my classes and now the advising center provides me with the greatest personal satisfaction,” Aman said. “Without them and their vitality I would not have a job.”
According to Aman’s nominator, assistant professor Connie Phelps, Aman’s positive attitude influences everyone he works with.
“(He) brings positive and professional contributions within his department, college and university,” Phelps said. “His friendly manner engages students, staff and faculty energetically and willingly, regardless of the task.”
Aman said he cannot pick one favorite thing about ESU because he likes “absolutely everything!”
“I feel so very lucky that I have had the opportunity to be employed at a place that works so hard for student and staff success,” he said. “Without the group of people associated with the third floor of Visser, I would be very lost.”
Aman adsvised others who want to make a difference on campus to “Never lose focus of why we are here at Emporia State.”
“A smile or a kind word to that individual you walk by could have an impact that will never be known to you,” he said. “Everyone enjoys being noticed.”
