ESU netters split 2 matches

The Emporia State volleyball team went 1-1 in a pair of matches Friday at the West Florida/Argonaut Crossover Tournament in Pensacola, Fla.

The Hornets swept Alabama-Huntsville in the first match 30-20, 30-20, 30-22, before falling to undefeated West Florida 31-29, 30-28, 30-22.

Brianne Boner led ESU in Match One, posting nine kills to go along with nine blocks. Megan Koster added six kills, while Mary Walczuk had five kills and five blocks.

In the nightcap, Arica Shepard notched a double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs. Boner also hit double figures in kills (10).

ESU (7-4) will play two more matches today, taking on No. 22 North Alabama at 1 p.m. and Southern Arkansas at 7.
