THE DEATH of a U.S. soldier from Emporia has finally brought the war in Iraq to our front doorstep.
No matter how we feel about the war, it is our duty and honor to show the family of this fallen soldier that the Emporia community is standing firm with the fight for freedom. This young man gave the ultimate sacrifice for us and it is only right that the Emporia community step up to the plate and show his family our support.
I ask Emporia on the day of this young man’s funeral service to line the streets with people holding American flags in honor and remembrance of this young man. It is the right thing to do.
