Protecting freedom

Wednesday, September 5, 2007

OPPRESSION OF a community the size of Emporia — would it be legal? Would a city workforce not representing the community as a whole be legal, or would it be a human-rights violation in city government? Would it be political or a crime?

Why would political people oppress such a large community? Would it be financial to take large sums of money without legally earning them? Or would it be to oppress or conform to a religious belief?

Why would any government or people oppress anyone or any community this size? It would be wrong. It stands against everything our constitution stand for. It’s demeaning to the founding fathers of our country. It does not do anything but disgrace a political regime to this nation.

Would you have ever known that your neighbor would have voted for such political oppression? Would you believe such political problems exist in our community? Is it easy to stomach human rights being violated by our political leadership?

Why would our Constitution say this is wrong? Why would you vote for leadership that is taking us in a course of such future that disgraces our community to this nation? If you believe in stopping human-rights violations and oppression of large sums of people, do like me — stand up against such crime.

I will expect to see you challenge me in 2009 and run for city commission to stop such human-rights violations. That’s what our country is about. Standing up as a people to protect our freedom.

what are you talking about? You yourself do not stand up for the human rights of everybody! What about when you walk around with derrogatory comments about homosexuals on your t-shirts. You call people who have not served in armed forces cowards on another t-shirt you sport around town. You are very vocal with store clerks insisting they not "make human contact with you" due to disrespect of this town! What does that mean anyway?
I guess my point is... I'm not sure you're the best person to stand on a soap box about standing up for human rights when you are so vocal about tearing certain groups of people down. Those people you are against deserve their human rights protected too.

Ah yes, Percy, rhetorical questioning, a poor form of argument when the questions don't relate to anything. I join the others when I say, what the heck are you talking about? What have you been smoking?
