For Floyd and Becky Conrade, owning Midwest Limousine is more than just providing people with a ride — it’s about providing people with a good time and lasting memories.
The Conrades started Midwest Limousine about a year and a half ago after they realized there wasn’t any service like it in Emporia.
“We thought it was a very good market to get into,” Floyd Conrade said.
Midwest Limousine offers services for all kinds of events, including weddings, bachelor and bachelorette parties, anniversaries/romantic getaways, holidays, Quinceaneras, graduations, school dances and proms, school functions, holiday light tours, fundraisers, birthday parties, casino outings, or anything anybody can dream up.
The Conrades own one, white, eight-passenger Lincoln limousine. Inside the limousine is a television with DVD player, an AM/FM cassette player and cooling compartments for soda and water. Alcohol is permitted, but must be furnished by the customer, Conrade said. Special decorations are available depending on the customers’ needs. Conrade said they often try to match decorations with the occasion.
“For the weddings we try to decorate in the color of the weddings,” he said. “On anniversaries we try to have a flower or two.”
Conrade said the fall and winter months are pretty busy for them, especially with the holiday lights tour and Christmas parties.
Conrade said owning a limousine company is rewarding.
“I like meeting people,” he said. “A lot of times the husband might do a surprise anniversary and set something up for the wife. I like seeing the looks on people’s faces and helping people have a good time.”
Conrade said he enjoys all aspects of the business, especially the night out on the town groups.
“They have a tendency to be lively and energetic,” Conrade said. “But no area is my favorite.”
The customer service the Conrades provide sets them apart, Floyd Conrade said.
“We do what we can to go over and above with customer service,” he said.
