Man arrested this morning for aggravated battery

One man is in custody following an incident at Natasha’s Billiards and Lounge early this morning.
At 1:41 a.m., officers from the Emporia Police Department were dispatched to a fight in progress at Natasha’s. As officers were arriving, they were advised one subject had been hit with a glass and/or bottle in the head.
Sgt. Edward P. Owens, of EPD, said when officers arrived at Natasha’s, they found Stewart R. Sisson, 25, of Council Grove, outside the lounge with a towel on the left side of his head. S. Sisson was attended to by Emporia EMTs at the scene and eventually was taken to Newman Regional Health where he received numerous stitches to his head and face.
Brett M. Smiley, 26, of Emporia, was arrested at the scene. Smiley was taken to Newman Regional Health for a cut to his right hand.
Formal charges will be filed through Lyon County District Court on Smiley.
