The Emporia State women’s soccer team remained winless on the season, dropping a heartbreaker Friday to East Central, 2-1, in two overtimes at the East Central Classic in Ada, Okla.
East Central’s Heather Martin scored from 6 yards out on a through ball from Jessica Kellett to break the 1-all tie, giving East Central the victory and dropping the Hornets to 0-3 on the season.
ESU had fought back from a 1-0 deficit to tie the game when Sarah Tetuan found the back of the net off the ECU goalie’s hands on a cross pass from Katherine DeWeese in the 80th minute.
East Central out-shot Emporia State, 25-10, but the Hornets stayed in the game thanks to the 14-save effort of Megan Martin.
