SOS training program
SOS is offering a training program for persons interested in becoming volunteers from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 18, 20 and 24. Training is free of charge; however, there is a $12 fee for a background check for all volunteers wishing to work directly with victims.
Volunteers are needed to answer telephones, pick up donations and serve victims and children directly as victim advocates. According to the news release, the training consists of “instruction in recognizing domestic violence, helping victims of sexual assault and/or domestic violence survive and thrive, maintaining appropriate confidentiality, how to help a victim through the legal system and appropriate ways to respond to victims in crisis.”
