Q Who is responsible, the city or the railroad, for maintaining railway crossings in this area? Some of them, like the one at 12th Avenue and Graphic Arts Road, are terribly rough and difficult to cross.
A “The answer is both,” said Steve Forsberg, spokesman for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway.
“The railroad is responsible for the crossing surface between the rails and up to two feet outside the rail. The rest of the approach is the responsibility of the owner of the road, typically a city or county.”
Forsberg said that citizens can report rough crossings to him at steven.forsberg@bnsf.com.
