Eight organizations are benefitting from Emporia Community Foundation grants, the group announced recently. The recipients of the $10,076 were chosen from 24 applicants with requests totaling more than $141,000.
The grants were issued to Abundant Harvest food kitchen, Emporia Child Care Centers I, II and III, Emporia SRS and Safe Kids, Flint Hills Community Health Center, Flint Hills Girl Scouts, North Central Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging, Twin Cities Lions Club of Strong City and Cottonwood Falls and SOS-Coaches and Kids.
Priority was given to requests that had matching funds available. This is the first year the foundation has awarded grants twice in a single year. The next round of grants will be awarded in the spring.
