Completes basic

Army Reserve Pvt. Justin F. Fuqua graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He attends Council Grove High School.

Army Pvt. Robert N. Urban graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky. He is the son of Carol Pool of Osage City.

During the nine-week training period, Fuqua and Urban received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle markmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid and Army history, traditions and core values.

Reading honor roll

The Reading School has released its honor roll for the first nine weeks. Students on the honor roll are:

Eighth Grade — A honor roll, Payton DeLong; B honor roll, Mark Hanks.

Seventh Grade — A honor roll, Lindsee Colglazier; B honor roll, Alexus Atchison, Jacob Decker, Melinda Heathman, Hannah Kaiser and Brandy Webb.

Sixth Grade — A honor roll, Fionna Colpan and Sydney DeLong; B honor roll, Andrew Atchison and Logan Fuller.
