Last day for tags
Wednesday is the last day to renew vehicle registrations for people whose last names begin with the letter S. Proof of insurance is required for all vehicles. The Lyon County Motor Vehicle office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Fremont Thanksgiving
The Rosean Social Club will be host for the annual community Thanksgiving dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Fremont Township Hall. Turkey with trimmings will be provided. Guests are to bring vegetables, salads or desserts. Everyone is welcome.
Hospital campaign
Morris County Hospital is launching the community phase of its multimillion dollar fund-raising campaign with meetings throughout its service area. The campaign hopes to raise $1.5 million toward a $3.7 million technology upgrade, expansion and remodeling of the Family Health Center and increased funding for health education and scholarship funds.
The planned meetings are:
F Delavan Community Building, 7 p.m. Monday;
F Council Grove, First Baptist Church fellowship hall, 7 p.m. Nov. 6;
F Dunlap, Nov. 7, place and time to be announced;
F Alta Vista Senior Center, 7 p.m. Nov. 8;
F Dwight, Nov. 9, place and time to be announced;
F Burdick American Legion building, 7 p.m. Nov. 19; and
F White City and Parkerville, White City community building, 7 p.m. Nov. 20.

Veterans breakfast
Emporia Presbyterian Manor will serve a free breakfast for area veterans from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. Nov. 10 as part of the All Veterans Tribute. The breakfast is free for veterans and spouses, but reservations are needed by Nov. 7. Call 343-2613.
Birthday celebration
Pete Pykiet will be the guest of honor at an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Senior Center in Allen to celebrate his 90th birthday. Cards may be sent to him at P.O. Box 74, Allen, KS 66833. No gifts are requested.
