rk has opened in Gridley, the Coffey County Republican reported.

More than 50 people attended the grand opening of the park recently. Fundraisers were held to pay for the park such as breakfasts, evening cookouts and selling miscellaneous items. Senior citizens in Gridley also helped by sponsoring a breakfast fundraiser at the skate park.

Chase County

The Chase County Leader-News reported that the Chase County Board of County Commissioners reviewed that status of the Diamond Creek Bridge with Road and Bridge Supervisor Paul Jones at Monday’s meeting.

Jones told the board the county has to decide whether FEMA money and state funds it will be receiving for the bridge will be used for repairs to the bridge or spent elsewhere. The cost of removing the bridge and instead building a low-water crossing was reviewed as well as the cost of repairing the bridge and maintaining it.

The board made no decision regarding the bridge. They are considering three alternatives: Repair the bridge and set money aside for a new crossing at a later date; tear down the bridge and replace it at a later date; or tear down the bridge and not replace it.
