Faithlift, A Day of Spiritual Renewal for Women

Grace United Methodist Church, 2 Neosho St., will be the host for “Faithlift, A day of Spiritual Renewal for Women” beginning with registration at 8 a.m. Saturday for women of all faiths. Sessions begin at 9 a.m. and last until 3 p.m. Childcare is provided. To pre-register, call the church at 342-2240. The presenters will be Lee Ann Williamson and Lori Smith from Grace and Gladness ministries. All activities are covered by the suggested $10 donation.

Embracing Justice Under God’s Tent

The Church Women United World Community Day, “Embracing Justice Under God’s Tent,” will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 2 at Emporia Presbyterian West Campus, 1702 W. 15th Ave. According to the press release, this is a worship service for all diverse women of faith “lifting concerns of homelessness, immigration and responses to disaster based on familiar scriptures and Psalms 23, 82 and 85. The Meditation, ‘We Have Names’ describes those who have been resident aliens in strange lands, wanderers throughout history, those exiled and uprooted and remnants in society — then and now.” This event is held in communities across the country. The special offering on Sunday will be for diapers. Food is collected every Sunday through Nov. 11. At 4p.m., people will meet at the church or Moyer’s for a hot dog roast and hay ride with youth from the north Lyon County churches.
