Madison will be hopping Saturday with the annual Madison Fall Fest.
The event, sponsored by the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, is held each year and promises a variety of activities for all ages from pumpkin carving to settling down empty stomachs with a sloppy joe feed.
Events include:
- Craft show — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Madison High School.
- Pumpkin carving and decorating contest — 1 p.m., Madison High School. Open to all ages with total prize money of $300.
- Come hungry for the sloppy joe feed! — 4 p.m., Downtown Madison, in front of Deanna Smith Accounting, a free-will offering will be accepted.
- Costume and float judging and parade line-up — 5 p.m., Madison Depot. Prizes will be awarded.
- Parade — 5:30 p.m.
- Merchant trick or treating — Immediately following parade at participating businesses.
- Spook house — 7 p.m., Madison Depot
Other events this weekend in and around Emporia include the spooky happenings Friday and Saturday night at Camp Alexander and Neosho Rapids. Camp Alexander’s Haunted Forest will run from 8 p.m. to midnight each night. Call 342-1386 for information. The Neosho Rapids Haunted House, sponsored by the Neosho Rapids Lions Club, will run from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Neosho Rapids Community Center.
