The Zoiks! cast at Emporia State University will provide a fun and zany time Monday night but leave the kids at home because the show is geared to a mature crowd.
Pat Janssen, artistic director of the improv-comedy troupe Zoiks!, said the show will start at 10 p.m. Monday in the Bruder Theatre in King Hall. Admission is $1 and all money will go toward the education fun for 9-month-old Raelee James, whose father, Kevin Lee James, was killed Oct. 5 in a one-vehicle accident near Dighton.
Kevin James worked in Emporia at Affordable Room Group and Wallace Stitchin Post before moving with his daughter and wife, Laramee, to Scott City.
Zoiks!, which is a 16-member group, does shows for whoever wants them to perform, Janssen said. Monday’s show will be about an hour and a half long.
“We take our audience suggestions and then build a show based on what it sounds like they want to hear,” he said.
And the campus shows can get a little wild, Janssen said.
“We don’t suggest that anyone under the age of 18 should attend,” he said. “Our campus shows generally end up being R-rated. It’s just the suggestions we get and we go with them.”
