Chase County
The Chase County Leader-News reported that the Chase County Board of Commissioners received a letter from Deputy County Clerk Lynnea Johnson notifying the county of her intention to resign her office effective Jan. 11, 2008.
Johnson is returning to school in the spring semester to complete her teaching endorsement.
Madison
The Madison News reported that Madison’s Fall Fest is set for Oct. 27 and one of the anticipated events of the festival is a pumpkin carving and decorating contest. There will be two categories this year: Pumpkin caring and pumpkin decorating. Each category is divided into three age groups: pre-school to 2nd grade; 3rd through 8th grade; and high school to adult.
Pumpkins are to be at the commons area of Madison high School on Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. Judging will be at 1:30 p.m. Participants are asked to furnish their own candles. The event is sponsored by the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce.
Greenwood County
The Eureka Herald reported that the Greenwood County Farm Bureau Association, represented by President Carol Ann Flock presented a check for $1,000 to the Greenwood County Rural Fire Department.
The donation was made in observance of National Fire Prevention Week.
