Manhattan's Jamie Jones fumbled the opening kickoff, which Mark Kolmer recovered at the Manhattan 25-yard line.

Emporia then used four plays to reach the end zone, as Edd Noonan scored on a 5-yard rush to make it 7-0 after the extra point.

On its first possession, Manhattan drove all the way to the Spartans' 20-yard line before the drive stalled out, and the Indians then missed a 37-yard field goal.

Manhattan got on the scoreboard with 6:37 left in the first half when quarterback Colton Rohr hit Tom Elliot for a 19-yard TD pass to tie it at 7.

Emporia responded with a 13-play, 76-yard drive that lasted 5-minutes, 54 seconds and was cappd by a Mark Kolmer touchdown around the right side. EHS missed the extra point, making it 13-7, which would last until halftime.

Manhattan got a 25-yard field goal to close Emporia's lead to 13-10 with 1:05 left in the third quarter.

Emporia again answered an Indians score, this time with a touchdown run by Kolmer from 11 yards out. Noonan ran in the two-point conversion to push its lead to 21-10 with 5:31 remaining.

Brandon Childs intercepted Manhattan's Rohr on the Indians' next possession, and the Spartans held on from there.
