‘Little Shop of Horrors’
Performances of “Little Shop of Horrors,” the ESU 35th annual homecoming scholarship musical, continue at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in Albert Taylor Hall at Plumb Hall. Ticket prices are $15 for orchestra seating and $12 for balcony level seating. Balcony seats are available to ESU students for $8. All seats reserved in Albert Taylor Hall; call the box office at 341-6378. Choral concert
The ESU Department of Music presents the Choral Showcase Concert — EHS and ESU at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church. On Oct. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in Heath Recital Hall, there will be a faculty recital of the Mid America Woodwind Quintet. Admission is $5 for the general public; $4 for students and senior citizens. Book discussion
“Virgin of Small Plains” by Nancy Pickard is the next book in the Kansas Connections: 2007 Book Discussion Series held at the Emporia Public Library at 7 p.m. Nov. 7. The final book to be discussed will be “The Persian Pickle Club” by Sandra Dallas on Dec. 5. The library is holding this series in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of Emporia by focusing on books with Kansas settings, or Kansas characters or written by Kansas authors. Wichita exhibit
The Wichita Art Museum is featuring “Bold Expressions in Modern Art: The Buddy Greenberg Collection” on view through Feb. 17, 2008; “Art of the Needle: Masterpiece Quilts from the Shelburne Museum” through Jan. 13, 2008; and “Kansas Quilts from the Prairie Quilt Guild” on view Sunday through Jan. 6, 2008. On Oct. 26, there will be a celebration of the exhibitions from 5 to 8 p.m. with members of Buddy Greenberg’s family and members of the Prairie Quilt exhibition whose quilts are being shown. People also can watch quilting demonstrations taking place in the galleries. There will be live music, light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. This “final friday @ wam” event is free and open to the public. A trolley will be available at 6:30 p.m. to visit other Final Friday galleries.
