The ESU Strategic Planning Work Group on Governing Ideas is asking the public for comment next week.
Recently a survey was conducted to obtain input on the university's mission, vision, and core values from members of the community, alumni, students, faculty and staff. As a result of the responses received, the work group synthesized the information and developed a mission statement: “ESU provides a dynamic learning environment that prepares students for lives of personal and professional excellence.” and vision statement: “ESU will be a premier university known for academic excellence, professional leadership, and socially responsible service.”
In addition, the group developed these core values:
• Excellence — We value challenges, creative thinking, problem solving, enriched experiences, and health
• Respect — We value integrity, collaboration, social justice, tolerance, diversity, freedom of thought and expression
• Responsibility — We value accountability and positive stewardship of fiscal, environmental, and human resources
• Service — We value leadership, service to others, and community engagement
Public comment is welcome at a meeting from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 18 in the PDK room of the Memorial Union.
