The announcement of Michael Halleran’s resignation as county counselor/court trustee was read into record this morning by Marshall Miller, Lyon County Commission chairman.

The announcement came shortly after the start of the county commission meeting began at 8 a.m. today. Halleran is expected to become the court trustee/assistant county counselor effective Oct. 15.

Miller said Halleran will maintain his current duties until someone is hired to fill his position.

“Per his resignation letter, (Halleran) will be devoting energies more fully to his position as Fifth Judicial District Court Trustee,” Miller said.

The board of Lyon County Commissioners will be posting a job opening for a county counselor with additional duties by Oct. 15 in order to meet print deadlines from the Kansas Association of Counties and the Kansas Bar Journal.
