Tech College auditorium is renamed for donors

Trustees of Flint Hills Technical College renamed its state-of-the-art auditorium the Reeble-Trusler Education Center on Monday afternoon in honor of the two foundations that have funded the auditorium’s renovation.

The Bernard and Jane Reeble Foundation and The Trusler Foundation have provided “significant resources ... over the years for scholarship and child-care support, computer upgrades, support for the paramedic program, building projects and most recently the renovation of the auditorium,” stated a release prepared by the Flint Hills Technical College Foundation. No monetary amounts for the donations were given at the trustees’ meeting.

Jane Reeble and Trusler Foundation trustees will be recognized at a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 5. Bernard Reeble died in April 2005.

President Dean Hollenbeck said Jane Reeble was a “huge supporter,” who shunned publicity of her foundation’s giving. She would, though, make an exception and plans to attend the dedication.

The Reeble-Trusler Education Center has become the electronic pulse of the FHTC campus. It’s considered to be a “smart” classroom, meaning it has video, cable, wireless and other capacities. In the future, it will be used for video conferencing and, eventually, classes could be broadcast over cable television to the public.

Too bad that "Education Center" seems to be off limits to students of the college. Unless of course you are in their Nursing program. I guess if your not nursing, your nothing at FHTC.
