Fire prevention and insurance, too

Tomorrow, the community is invited to the Lyon County Fairgrounds to take part in a Fire Prevention Extravaganza.
The Emporia fire department, area fire departments, dispatch, police department, sheriff’s department and Midwest LifeTeam will all be taking part in the event.
This should be a fun event and should make a good learning experience, so make plans to attend and bring the whole family.
This year, the fire department came to our house, but it was not for a demonstration. We had a fire in our kitchen and we learned first-hand the emotional roller coaster one experiences when a fire is in your home.
Use this week — Fire Prevention Week — as an opportunity to prepare yourself and your family. One day, the fire department may be called to your house for a real fire.
With all the people taking part in the demonstrations, however, there is one person left out; the insurance agent. After the firefighters leave, you will be calling your agent to help you put your life back together.
As you review your fire emergency plans, why not call your insurance agent and make sure your policies are up to date and you have plenty of coverage?
