Helps with housing damage from storms
Special housing funding assistance is available for Lyon County residents impacted by the early May storms.
USDA’s low-interest and grant funding is part of the supplemental funding approved to assist Kansans eligible for the agency’s programs in 24 counties designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
“USDA Rural Development is committed to help those Lyon County residents impacted by the tornadoes and storms that struck the state in early May,” USDA Rural Development State Director Chuck Banks said. “Kansans who have relocated to Lyon County because of these May storms may also be eligible for this special USDA housing funding assistance...”
USDA disaster funding can provide more than $35 million in program authority for low-interest single-family home ownership loans, home repair grants and low-interest loans. The USDA housing waivers cover the following areas, which allows for greater program flexibility: loan limits; credit qualifications; employment or wages qualifications; rural property eligibility; and energy efficiency construction.
Areas eligible for the agency’s housing programs can include rural properties, along with communities up to 10,000 in population and some towns between 10,000 and 20,000 in population.
